Pictures
Such a sweet young girl. And sooooo smart. Love her.
Same with this guy. Off the charts smart and so polite. Love him.
My scrappy little friend. When she means business, she MEANS BUSINESS!
For some reason they liked it when I'd let them "play dead" in my arms.
Such a great little girl.
While battling homesickness this dog gave me some peace. Sweetie.
Berta, Berta, Berta. I pretty much wanted to sneak her home with me.
Playing with googley eyes.
My little group of buddies. They were my little shadows.
What a nice sibling group. Praying for a family for them.
Best friends!
Ana Karen and Omar.

Hi all, Sean here. I have talked to Vanessa and she, Sid, and Milli have all made it to Lily safely. Thanks to everyone out there praying for travel mercies. Vanessa sounded tired. When I talked to her last night, she said that in the last 40 hours, she only had about 4 hours of sleep. Hopefully she is all rested today! I'll keep posting as I get news from Mexico.

May Orphanage Trip Update
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
There was a fundraiser tonight at work to raise support for my upcoming trip. Mexican food potluck followed by a rowdy game of bunco. I am so touched by all of the folks who participated...and equally touched by those who couldn't attend, but saw fit to support me financially. There are a few folks to whom I want to give a special shout out.
C.C. = MOTIVATED! Give this girl a task and she kills it. She is the girl you want on your side when you need to get something done. Thank you very much, C.C.!
D.W. = DEPENDABLE! This is the girl who can always be counted on to pitch in and offer her services. She has a very long fuse and never seems to get flustered. Thank you very much, D.W.!
S.F. = LOYAL! No matter what happens she is so loyal to our friendship. We fight...but I love her like a sister. Thank you very much, S.F.!
P.M. = GENEROUS! This lady is one of the most generous people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. So glad to know her. Thank you very much, P.M.!
H.W., S.V., C.K. = these ladies definitely get honorable mention for being my "nice" friends. They like to hug a little to much for me, but they're very, very nice! Thank you very much, H.W., S.V., and C.K.!
"THE INTERNS" = these fellas get a shout out for helping with, well, everything. You name it they do it. Thank you very much, M.S. and E.T.!
Lastly, I want to say a special thank you to the winner of tonight's bunco tourney winner, S.D. She gave us back her 1st place gift (gift card) so that it we can use it for gas on our trip. How sweet is that?

TRIP UPDATE
There is date change for my upcoming trip to Mexico. We will leave Louisville on Monday, May 24th...and return Monday, May 31st. We three travelers plan to make the trek without any stops...other than food & gas, of course. Did I happen to mention that it is a THIRTY HOUR drive? 30 HOURS. Please pray for us. Sean will not be making the journey this time. Someone has to stay home and take care of the Hlavaty zoo, right?
I am almost finished buying all of the fun things that I want to give/share with kids at the orphanage. I found several books written in both Spanish and English. I have supplies to paint the nails of 100+ young girls. And I have crayons and coloring books galore...for both boys & girls. I need to buy some candy and some beading supplies then I'm done. Promise.
I would like to take a cash donation to Ed & Rosa, the folks who run the orphanage. Any amount is a blessing and helpful to them. Please, if the Lord puts it on your heart to give, do so generously. I will deliver the money directly to Ed & Rosa and let them know how committed the people in my circle are to seeing them provide a safe, loving, Godly home for these children.
I've been studying Spanish just about every night for the past 2 weeks. It's coming along nicely. Rosetta Stone is a God send. I WILL be finished with level one before I leave for Chihuahua. According to Sean I'll learn a lot from the kids as well. CAN'T WAIT!

6 weeks!
I got some great news last night. I am going to Mexico in 6 weeks!!! I am so excited. I really thought I'd have to wait until October to visit the orphanage, but thanks to a wonderful couple who invited me to go down there with them, I'll be there in no time.
We will leave KY on Friday, May 21st...returning home Monday, May 31st. The drive will take approximately 30 hours and we'll cross the border into Mexico in Presidio, TX. Huh...you know what? I've never seen the desert before. I think I may actually be looking forward to this drive.

I need to plan some activities with the children. I've been told there are some great Spanish/English books at Half Price Books. I think I'm also going to buy some beading kits. Oh! I can teach them how to make friendship bracelets!
First order of business though - must learn Spanish! Quickly!

Just across the border on the way to the orphanage.
